Our Approach

We believe that authentic and on-going public engagement saves money and improves projects, organizations and communities. Key to productive public engagement is a good process. Elements of a good process include: clear and compelling public information, strong facilitation and a design that fits the unique topic or community. Because every issue, organization and community is different we design public engagement strategies that fit the diverse needs of each situation. Our team has the toolbox to deliver all parts of the public engagement process from the public information to the meeting facilitation to analysis of input creating a seamless, coordinated process.

From 2012-2014 we assisted the Tahoe Truckee Airport District with their Master Planning process. Over 500 people participated via public workshops, on-line surveys and other outreach efforts. The result of the process was a community-driven Master Plan and dollars saved through a reduction in changes to the Plan leading up to final approval.

Tahoe Truckee Unified School District, Education Matters Process

In 2010 we helped the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District run a community-wide input process to define educational priorities. Public workshops were held at ten school locations in English and Spanish with over 1000 educators, parents and community leaders participating. The priorities set through this public engagement process are driving the District’s strategic plan today. View the plan here.

Placer County Health and Human Services, Campaign for Community Wellness

From 2009-2012 we led a multi-stakeholder decision-making process for a multimillion-dollar mental health-planning program in Placer County, CA.  As part of the process, we conducted monthly meetings with over forty diverse mental health stakeholders in Placer County to determine key recommendations for programming and resource allocation. The initiative continues today as the Campaign for Community Wellness, an effort to transform mental health services and build community wellness through a client-centered approach.
